On July 5th, the community witnessed the resurgence of an old giant. Let us delve deeper into the story behind its return.

History
The Dark Warriors were created in 2007 by Ambrosha and Elite910, and have remained a recognizable name within the Club Penguin Army community ever since. Over the years, they’ve been led by a number of key figures such as SaW, Circa, Freezie66, Donut67890, and Noa, each playing a role in shaping different generations of the army. Their history includes several periods of activity, leadership changes, and competitive involvement across various eras of CPA history.
Revival
On May 23rd, Ambrosha, the creator of the Dark Warriors, granted permission to Holo2 and Subzero to revive the army. Prior to the official revival, Coolguy joined the leadership alongside Holo and Subzero. Additionally, both the Mercenaries and Valiant Azure Knights merged into the Dark Warriors ahead of the reopening. During their return event, the army reached an impressive peak of 41 penguins online on Club Penguin Army Battleground.

Snaps of Dark Warriors revival event

Club Penguin Armies Official approached Dark Warriors leaders for an exclusive interview to learn more about their plans and what they have to say to the community.
What inspired you to revive Dark Warriors?
Coolguy: Discussions about Dark Warriors’ revival had been around for a while, and they started before I joined the Leadership, but the reason I joined aligned with the reasons people wanted to revive DW. Dark Warriors is a historic army, and its legacy is something that some may not know or have even forgotten. Yet, when you think about OG CPA or even 2020, Dark Warriors is a huge part of it. It’s about rebuilding not only the legacy that is DW but it’s about (re)building a community that was dear to many. It’s about creating a place for new and old generations to come together and find their place. It’s about making sure DW gets what it deserves, leaving any and all controversy behind while creating new history
Subzero: So initially it was just an idea that ended up turning into conversations with Ambrosha months before the announcement of the revival, this was down to me and Kyle settling our differences from the past for a greater cause.
Holo2: The inspiration came not only from a place of childhood nostalgia and missed opportunity when I was younger, but from a collective of individuals that felt a very pioneer of this community was missing in Dark Warriors.
What goals do you have for DW in the future?
Coolguy: I think I alluded to this in the first question but for me, I want to see DW maintaining its place as a major army within the top 5, competing for that top spot, week in and week out. The future of DW and its place within the community is important, and my goals revolve around that, but another couple of goals are setting DW up for future generations and burning the light.
Subzero: Well first and foremost, I’d just like to say that our top priority is to create a safe and fun environment that welcomes anyone into the DW Family and secondly to restore former dominance and greatness
Holo2: Our goals are to continue building and strengthening our core team, focusing on troop training and expansion as well as aiming to return to the tournament war machine we once were.
How did the idea of merging Mercenaries and Valiant Azure Knights come about?
Coolguy: VAK surprised many when they entered the community because they were built from nothing and they found stability and grew quite quickly. So the respect we have for them for doing that is great but the merge was timely for the both of us and it allows us to combine our skills to rebuild a former major, historic army. As for Mercs, the leaders and the rest of the gang are passionate about what they do, they’re dedicated and work hard to try and achieve greatness. With both our armies aiming to reopen, it only made sense to combine our forces in Dark Warriors to recreate something much bigger than all of us combined. Now, it’s time for everyone to prove why DW is going to be great and prove that we have what it takes to get it there.
Subzero: The idea for that was pretty simple, being apart of DW is an offer you’ll find hard to refuse, we also knew that passing on the opportunity to having such valuable members potentially be apart of the team would be silly and so we got to work behind the scenes, and thankful we did.
Holo2: The concepts behind these mergers were rather simple, we felt as though the individuals that would be absorbed in a merge had an abundance of talent that deserved to be displayed on a potential major army scale, and they proved consistent in their ability in the S/M Category and it was time for them to take a step toward potential consistent major status.
Do you have any message for the community?
Coolguy: Sometimes in life, the hardest choices are the most rewarding. No matter how hard it may be, sometimes a leap in the dark has to be taken. However, there are times when a choice will seem like a no-brainer. If this is still the same after weighing everything up, then what’s stopping you? DO IT! The Darkness Is Coming.
Subzero: Burn The Light, or Burn In Our Shadows.
Holo2: Continue to grow positively for the betterment of our community.
The return of the Dark Warriors marks a significant moment in CPA history, led by Holo2, Subzero, and Coolguy with support from founder Ambrosha. Fueled by nostalgia and ambition, their mission is to rebuild a strong, inclusive community and restore DW’s legacy. The merger of Mercenaries and Valiant Azure Knights further strengthened their foundation, setting the stage for a strong comeback.
Finally, we thank the Dark Warriors leaders for sharing their vision with Club Penguin Armies Official and wish them the very best in this new chapter.
