Today, we delve into an opinion post exploring the question: Are Permanent Bans Truly Beneficial for Leagues? Let’s see what our community members think!
We’ve observed instances where individuals have been banned for various reasons, often due to rule violations or immature behaviour. But does a permanent ban genuinely solve the problem?
What if the individual reflects on their actions, changes their behaviour, and expresses genuine regret? Should they not be given a second chance? Additionally, do leagues truly hold the authority to ban individuals indefinitely? We’ve even seen cases where army leaders have been banned. While it’s reasonable for leagues to enforce rules and take action against those who violate them, is a permanent ban always the right solution? Unless its something which is threatening to whole community.
The Power Dynamics
This raises further questions about how power is played. Does the ability to ban individuals grant leagues superiority over armies, allowing them to include or exclude people based on preference? Moreover, in situations where there is only one primary league, does permanently banning someone truly serve the community’s best interests?
In my opinion, people can change, and those who show they are truly sorry should be given a second chance, especially if they actively seek it. When there’s no alternative league to turn to, a permanent ban can completely isolate an individual from the community, which may not always be fair or productive.
What community has to say
Let’s open the discussion: How do you feel about permanent bans? Should individuals be given a second chance if they show growth and regret their past actions?
Club Penguin Armies Official asked 4 individuals, Levelz ,Monstah ,Midnight,Best Penguin, about their opinion.
Levelz: I think permanent bans should be reserved for people who have gotten banned multiple times, yeah people should be given second chances after time has passed since their ban but after second and third chances etc perm bans are deserved
Monstah: It really depends on the reason for the ban. In my opinion, any ban should be appealable if they aren’t a criminal or a disgusting person by real life standards such as a pedophile or people with malicious intent in general. I feel that any bans should be a rare case since the community is small as it is with a lot of former members leaving or retiring for various reasons over the years. I also think the rules should be a bit more lax and accommodating as long no real harm is done to bring out the army spirit and environment.
Midnight: Individuals should be given a second chance. People change, they grow up and mature and they learn what their mistake was. After a while, people should be allowed to return but it could depend on what they have done though. A pedophile should never be allowed to return but someone whos used offensive language and realized what they did was wrong should be given another chance.
Best Penguin: I mean if they are banned for a reason then they should be banned, unless they really show that they regretted their previous actions
The debate about permanent bans in leagues remain complex with valid arguments. While permanent bans can be a useful way to keep things fair and protect the community from harmful actions, they shouldn’t be the only solution used every time. Instead, leagues could try a more balanced approach that holds people accountable while also giving them a chance to learn from their mistakes and improve.Ultimately, the decision should prioritize the best interests of the community while ensuring accountability.
